Similar to the recent storm swept through the northwest the night before, Manchester City swept Manchester United away at the Etihad. It was a statement 3-0 victory for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that firmly established their championship potential as they strengthened their standing at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Defeats for United

This result represented consecutive Women's Super League setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since May 2024, placing them seven points off the top team with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.

The Red Devils' capacity to balance league and European football with a limited roster has been a hotly discussed issue since they earned a place in the European competition. Looking at the fixture list, it always appeared this was the week that would fully examine this fortitude.
