Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A persistent false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
